Werner Jerke Museum - Hörspiel von "COSMO Radio po polsku"
Works by leading Polish artists of the younger generation, like Wilhelm Sasnal, are equally represented in the collection. Thus the period of liberation from communist rule in Poland after 1989 and the return to new European freedoms have also left their mark on the Jerke Collection, so that we may expect exciting new purchases in the future.
One particular highlight in the collection consists of some very special exhibits that one would not normally expect to find in the two main themes. These include, for example, works by Andrzej Wróblewski, an artist who has tackled war and post-war traumas in Poland in a highly impressive manner.
A museum built specially to house the Jerke Collection will open in 2015 on the Johannes-Janssen Square in Recklinghausen. It has been completely planned and financed by the Jerke family. The windows on the first and second floors have been designed by Wojciech Fangor, one of the most prominent representatives of present-day Polish art (he lived in West Berlin between 1964 and 65).
In 2014 the Jerke Collection was presented in an impressive show at the Polish Institute in Düsseldorf. The exhibition poster features an assortment of the selected exhibits.
