Franciszek Herzog: Religious Art in the Woldenberg prisoner of war camp 1940–1945
The portfolio, with typewritten text in English (28 x 21.7 cm), contains the original woodcuts, photographs, small prints, postcards and stamps that were created in the camp. Later, the motifs from the woodcuts were often used to produce stamps for the camp post and for Christmas cards and postcards. Some of the 17 individual sheets have been worked on on both sides. On page 17, there is a short historical outline of the history of the camp in Woldenberg / Dobiegniew in English, a comment about the lively exhibition activity in the camp and a dedication by the author Franciszek Herzog to his fellow prisoner officer Josef Herzog (Franciszek Herzog’s uncle).
Page 12 is either missing from the portfolio or the page number is missing.
The portfolio belongs to the inventory of the Polish Museum in Rapperswil, Switzerland.
