Pośpiech, Paweł
Pośpiech, Paweł (Paul Pospiech), 1912-18 member of the Reichstag of the German Empire. *22.1.1878 Kokoschütz/Kokoszyce near Loslau/Wodzisław Śląski, †23.3.1922 in Pleß/Pszczyna, priest. After passing his A-levels at the 1899 at the grammar school in Ratibor, he studied Catholic Theology at the Philosophical/Theological Faculty of the University of Breslau from 1899 to 1902. In 1903 he was ordained a priest in the Basilika Mariä Geburt in Pschow/Bazylika Narodzenia Najświętszej Maryi Panny w Pszowie, where he worked in pastoral care. In January 1912 he was elected as a member of the Polish parliamentary group in the German Reichstag for the constituency of Pleß-Rybnik with a majority of 52.02%. He was a member of the special committees on disciplinary processes, adolescent delinquency, war damage and petitions. Between 1913 and 1920 he was the owner and chief editor of the newspaper Gazeta Ludowa/Volkszeitung in Kattowice. In 1916 he became a chaplain in Kattowice. He was an honorary member of the Zjednoczenie Zawodowe Polskie/Polish Union of Professions, vice-President of the Federation of Polish Choirs in Upper Silesia, and a member of the board of the Bank Ludowy/Volksbank in Kattowice. Because of a serious illness, in 1920 he sold the newspaper to the Silesian “newspaper king”, Adam Napieralski (1861-1928) and retired to a monastery in Pleß. picture: 1912, http://parafia4.wibid.pl/?page_id=1875
