TU SPOCZYWAJĄ POLACY KTÓRZY ZGINĘLI W LATACH 1939–1945

[HERE LIE THE POLES WHO DIED IN YEARS 1939-1945]

It has also become the place of eternal rest to a Home Army soldier, participant of the Warsaw Uprising:

Górecki Henryk, Rifleman a.k.a. "Heniek"

† 1.1945 Cottbus

According to the information obtained in the town hall, Henryk Górecki is not on the list of World War II victims buried at three local cemeteries. Nearby, there are plots with the remains of the victims of the Cottbus bombing of the 15th of February 1945 (the list of victims of undefined nationality includes Polish-sounding names) and a plot of German soldiers of the First and Second World War. In a separate place, concentration camp prisoners (including Poles) and participants in the anti-fascist movement were commemorated. At the southern entrance to the cemetery, there are the graves of 400 soldiers of the Red Army who died in fights for the town in spring 1945.
