Grabski, Leon (Leon von Grabski), 1898-1908 member of the 2nd Chamber of the Prussian Landtag, 1903-18 member of the Reichstag of the German Empire. *1.7.1853 Inowrazlaw/Inowrocław, †10.10.1918 Gniezno, lord of the manor, major industrialist. Between 1861 and 1872 he attended the grammar school in Bromberg. Between 1872 and 1874 he attended the Institut Supérieur de Commerce in Antwerp. Subsequently he completed his training as a merchant in London, Königsberg and Warsaw. Between 1881 and 82 he completed a practical training in a Silesian sugar factory. In 1882 he set up the sugar factory Gniezno von Grabski, Jescheck & Co. From 1884 to 88 he was a municipal councillor in Gniezno, and after this he was a member of the municipal administration until 1894. From 1894 onwards he was a member of the Gniezno district committee, and from 1895 onwards a member of the Chamber of Commerce in Bromberg. In June 1903 he was elected as a member of the Polish parliamentary group in the German Reichstag for the constituency of Gniezno-Wongrowitz with a majority of 72.95%; in January 1907 with a majority of 67.68%; and in January 1912 with a majority of 64.58%. Amongst the Select Committees for which he sat were those for Reich banknotes, banking laws, motor vehicles, marine insurance, sugar tax, stock exchange prices and trade and industry. picture: 1912.
