On the 28.10.1885 he enrols in the painting class at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, studies under Sandór (Alexander von) Wagner (1838-1919) and Otto Seitz (1846-1912). 1887-90: he continues his studies in Cracow under Jan Matejko (1838-1893). In 1891 he returns to Krosno and marries. From 1909 to 1918 he lives with his family in Vienna. After that, he moves once again to Krosno where he lives in a villa specially built for him by the architect, Jan Sas Zubrzycki (1860-1935). Until his return to Krosno in 1891, Bergman mainly paints history paintings: subsequently portraits, figure and genre paintings from the upper social classes, above all pictures of ladies, more pictures of flowers, landscapes, still lifes and religious scenes. In his later years his colours become brighter under the influence of Impressionism. He creates murals for churches in Błażowa, Bobowa and Albigowa. His works can be found in the National Museum in Cracow/Muzeum Narodowe w Krakowie, in the Museum of the Carpathian Foothills in Krosno/Muzeum Podkarpackie w Krośnie and in the District Museum in Chełm/Muzeum Ziemi Chełmskiej in the Wiktora Ambroziewicza w Chełmie.
