Chłapowski, Kazimierz (Casimir von Chlapowski), 1881-87 member of the Reichstag of the German Empire, 1902-15 member of the 1st Chamber of the Prussian Landtag. *24.12.1832 Turew near Kosten/Kościan, †5.3.1916 Poznan. Lord of the Manor in Kopaszewo near Choryn/Choryń. Son of the estate owner and Polish general, Dezydery Adam Chłapowski (1790-1879), brother of the Members of the Reichstag, Stanisław and Tadeusz Chłapowski. After attending the Maria-Magdalena grammar school in Poznan he travelled throughout England and France in order to study practical agriculture, after which he took up a course of studies in Berlin. Like his father he ran the estate at Kopaszewo as an experimental and model estate, whose products received awards at national and international exhibitions. In 1862 he married his cousin, Anna Chłapowska. During the Cultural Battle between Prussia and the Catholic Church he was in the Ultramontane camp where he organised demonstrations in Poznan, Gniezno and Thorn. In October 1881 he was elected as a member of the Polish parliamentary group in the German Reichstag for the constituency of Kröben/Krobia with a majority of 66.73%, in October 1884 with 65.77%. picture: ca. 1875, Public Domain.
