Motty, Stanisław (Łukasz Augustyn Stanisław Motty, Stanislaus Motty), 1863-67, 1885-1900 member of the 2nd Chamber of the Prussian Landtag, 1867 member of the Reichstag of the North German Confederation, 1898-1900 member of the Reichstag of the German Empire. *18.10.1826 Poznan, †21.12.1900 ibid., lawyer, judge and son of the naturalist and educationalist, Jan Baptysta Motty (1790-1856), a Frenchman with Polish culture. After attending the Maria-Magdalena grammar school in Poznan he studied law at the universities in Berlin and Heidelberg from 1845 to 1849. During the 1848 revolution he participated in the Polish Uprising, was arrested and worked for nationalist Polish newspapers after his release. He continued his studies in October 1848. Subsequently he entered the judicial service in the district court in Poznan. In 1863 he participated in the Polish January Uprising. In 1867 he was appointed as a district judge, serving finally as a senior judge in Poznan. In February 1867 he was elected for the constituency of Poznan City as a member of the constituent Reichstag of the North German Confederation. In June 1898 he was elected for the same constituency as a member of the Polish parliamentary group in the German Reichstag with a majority of 63.19%. He served on the special committees for East African ship links, patent law and the Reich budget. He died during the 10th legislative period.
